Superb Day yesterday at the BIM FLAG Sponsored event “Pot to Pot Challenge” run by #Dorans in the #OarHouse in #Howth. We had a group of East Coast Shellfish Fishermen and Suppliers paired with some of Dublin’s Finest Chefs. We started the day with a walk around the Pier with the Skippers explaining the various processes of catching fish. Discussing Methods, Nets, Mesh Size, Pots, Tides and of course Quotas! We then came back to the after-deck of the Oar House where the Skippers Andrew on Argo K, Richard on Nausicca, Ted on Roisin and Suppliers Harold from Hennings Scallops and Kian from Carlingford Oysters paired with Chefs Siobhan #TheBrassMonkey, Marco #Octopussy, John #Moloughneys, John #Aqua and Laurent #Oarhouse competing in a cook-off using the wealth of Shellfish that our Coast has to offer in our Pot to Pot challenge. Food Critic Ross Golden Bannon and BIM representative Catherine Barrett joined #Dorans Garett Doyle on the judging panel and we were all treated to a range of spectacular shell fish dishes. The standard was so high that it was unanimously agreed that everyone was a winner on the day. As if we hadn’t eaten enough we then retired upstairs to the Chart Room where Laurent from the Oar House treated us to a Seafood Banquet. It is fair to say that an amazing day was had by all!!
